Pursuing a bold new initiative for climate justice
The Government of Vanuatu spearheaded an initiative asking the International Court of Justice to give an advisory opinion on the obligations of states on climate change and human rights. To do this, they needed a resolution from the UN General Assembly.
We worked with the Vanuatu Government to develop human rights-based arguments that they could deploy as part of the advocacy initiative. After the resolution was passed by consensus, we drafted an oped on behalf of the Prime Minister which was published in TIME.
